NSW: Inmates evacuated in NSW after fight breaks out

SYDNEY, Dec 28 AAP - Police evacuated up to 30 inmates from a correction centre in
northern NSW today after fighting broke out among them.

Police were called to the Grafton juvenile correction centre at 5.30pm (AEDT), following
reports of unruly behaviour, a police spokesman said.

After negotiating with the detainees, they were removed from the centre around 8.30pm
(AEDT) and taken to the Grafton police station, the spokesman said.

Staff holed themselves up in their offices during the trouble but were released quickly
and nobody was injured, he said.

Several detainees were being questioned.
