NSW: Search continues over road rage stabbing
SYDNEY, April 22 AAP - Police are searching for several men who stabbed a 37-year-oldman more than 20 times in a suspected road-rage attack in Sydney on the weekend.
Police say the victim was attacked as he crossed a busy intersection with his wifeand baby at Hurstville on Saturday night.
Hurstville police duty officer Inspector Peter Jamieson said the man, from Hurstville,called out to the occupants of the car before being attacked.
"Some verbal confrontation occurred at the intersection," Insp Jamieson told reporters.
"The vehicle was apparently stopped at the intersection when the confrontation tookplace and actually did a U-turn to confront the victim."
He said two or three men of Middle Eastern appearance set upon the victim in a "particularlyvicious attack".
A police spokesman said the victim was stabbed between 20 and 30 times all over his body.
The attackers used a single-bladed knife about 10 cm long, Insp Jamieson said.
The victim remains in a critical condition at St George Hospital where he underwentemergency surgery.
Detectives believed the vehicles used by the alleged attackers was a white sedan withregistration number XUE 836.
